VALLISAARI TOUR
Welcome to a diverse and entertaining tour of Vallisaari! Led by a guide, you will travel about 3 kilometers along a route, stopping to admire the magnificent seascapes and hearing about Vallisaari's amazingly rich nature and colorful history as a military island and a unique place to live.
Nature, which has developed in its own peace for decades, and history, which has been layered over hundreds of years, engage in an interesting dialogue with each other. On the tour, you will experience the mosaic-like variability of nature: ponds, meadows, bogs and silt cliffs and get to know the island's exceptional species. In addition, you will hear heart-warming stories about what human life has been like on these closed islands in different centuries.
The guides are experienced professionals, whose stories combine a love of nature and history with a solid knowledge of the islands. The tour takes you on uneven terrain in places, and the temperature in the sheltered interior of the island is very different from the windy shore, so it is worth preparing for the trip with comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. It is a good idea to bring a bottle of water.
Guided tours depart from Luotsipiha, Torpedolahti or a location according to the customer's wishes. The tour ends in Kuolemanlaakso near the island's café services and the water bus departure pier, unless otherwise agreed.
The tour lasts 1.5–2 hours. The maximum group size is 30 people. Larger groups require more guides. The guide is available in Finnish and, by separate arrangement, also in English or Swedish.
