Why book a ferry ticket online in advance?

Vallisaari is an interesting destination and on beautiful sunny days and especially during the Helsinki Biennale art exhibition that is organized in Vallisaari this summer the ferries can fill up quickly. By booking your ticket in advance you can choose the desired departure time and secure your place on the ferry. The return takes place on a ferry of your choice. Seats for a specific departure cannot be reserved or guaranteed.

Helsinki Biennial

Vallisaari offers plenty to admire for culture lovers as well! The Helsinki Biennial, a major contemporary art event, will be held in Vallisaari for the third time from June 8 to September 21, 2025, showcasing around 35 international artists or artist collectives from both Finland and abroad.

The theme of the third biennial, "Shelter," is inspired by Vallisaari’s decades-long existence without human habitation. The biennial highlights the delicate relationship between humanity and nature, shifting the focus away from humans and giving center stage to animals, plants, fungi, insects, and minerals. At the same time, art creates new spaces of shelter and encourages positive action.

Special groups

A special group includes children that are 7-17 years old, students, seniors as well as military and civil service men (certificate to be shown when tickets are being checked on board).

Vallisaari ferry schedules

You can find the timetables of the Kauppatori-Vallisaari line 1.5.-28.9.2025 here.

The service provider has the right to change the vessel to a smaller/bigger/different one in case of a problem caused by weather, machinery or other reasons.

Note to people with disabilities: The ships are relatively small, about 15 meter long vessels.

The vessels are not suitable for electric wheelchairs due to their weight as well as there may be problems with the ramp on the vessel.

You can board the vessel with a manual wheelchair.  We recommend having an assistant with you but of course the staff will help when requested.

Keep in mind that moving around in the vessel in a wheelchair is tricky due to the vessels  structure.

The ferry schedule that is marked with dark green colour is run by a larger ship and we recommend using those times/vessels if possible.

The circle line (orange line from Kalasatama) is operated by a significantly smaller ship on which loading a wheelchair is possible but difficult. The ship also stops in Lonna, and unloading a wheelchair there is particularly difficult due to the height of the stone-built pier. When the ferry is arriving to Vallisaari people with reduced mobility are generally left at the Torpedolahti pier, as it is a better pier than the Luotsipiha pier concidering it is closer to the services and attractions provided in the island.

Vallisaari and Island Hopping to other islands with the same ticket!

You can get the ferry to Vallisaari also from Espoo, Kruunuvuorenranta or Kalasatama.

With one personal day ticket, you can travel both round trip from Kauppatori to Vallisaari and freely on the circle line, that includes stops at Espoo, Suomenlinna, Lonna, Vasikkasaari, Stansvik and other places. See more here.
