Lime Avenue
[]

A splendid avenue of stately lime trees runs between the “Valley of Death” and the Alexander Battery. Such avenues of fine old broad-leaved trees are a rare sight in Finland, so the trees are greatly admired by visitors. The avenue originally formed part of a more extensive landscaped park built here in the 1860s during Russian rule. Most of the island is today covered by wild and dense vegetation, but the remaining old avenues and paths enable visitors to easily explore the island’s main attractions.
