The new set of routes will connect the three most popular tourist islands in Helsinki this summer. The goal of the close cooperation between Metsähallitus, the Governing Body of Suomenlinna, Lonna and Vallisaari entrepreneurs is to increase the number of stays and attract international customers by developing the service offering and accessibility. New this summer is the ring line from Kalasatama via Vallisaari, Suomenlinna and Lonna.
The scheduled service operated by FRS Finland will start on May 1. The Vallisaari main line and the Suomenlinna and Lonna water bus lines depart from Kauppatori Lyypekinlaituri, next to the Old Market Hall. Ring line that runs from Kalasatama (Parrulaituri) via Vallisaari, Suomenlinna and Lonna on 22.5. from, connects water transport to the metro network.
"Vallisaari, Suomenlinna and Lonna together create a superior service center in the archipelago, and thanks to the ring line, it can now be reached with one ticket during the same day," says Metsähallitus customer service manager Petra Niskanen. The whole includes a lot of interesting things to experience: Vallisaari's diverse nature, art content and cafes, Suomenlinna's world heritage site with its versatile services, and Lonna's sauna and restaurant services with its events.
"On a day trip, you can easily travel between the islands on different lines, you can arrive and depart from different points. This is a new island hopping product for the summer of 2023," says Tomi Ståhlberg, CEO of FRS Finland. The archipelago's offerings are also enlivened by many events, such as the Helsinki Biennial, which returns to Vallisaari this summer. The Helsinki Biennial opens on Helsinki Day, June 12 and continues until September 17.
